Fort Lauderdale is a hot spot for Florida visitors – both tourists and professionals. It is located in Broward County and part of the Miami Metropolitan area. From 1940s to 1980s, Fort Lauderdale was America’s ‘Spring Break Capital’. Greater Fort Lauderdale has over 4,000 restaurants, 63 golf courses, 12 shopping malls, 16 museums, 132 nightclubs, 278 parkland campsites, and 100 marinas housing 45,000 resident yachts.

The most popular shopping and walking district is probably Las Olas Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale with architecturally unique shops, hotels and restaurants.

Almost 30% of the city’s 10 million annual visitors attend the Broward County Convention Center with 600,000 sq ft of space including 4 exhibit halls, 2 ballrooms and 31 meeting rooms.

The annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the world’s largest boat show, brings 125,000 people to the city per year. The boating industry creates 109,000 jobs in Broward County and is home port for 42,000 boats, and 100 marinas and boatyards. Fort Lauderdale is a very international city with only 75% of the population speaking English as their primary language.

Fort Lauderdale borders Lauderdale by the Sea, Sea Ranch Lakes, Hollywood, Dania Beach, Davie, Plantation, Lauderhill, Lauderdale Lakes, North Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Tamarac, Wilton Manors and Pompano Beach. Fort Lauderdale consists of 60 designated neighborhoods with another 30 unofficial communities.
