Kayaking Jupiter Florida
KAYAK – to kayak or canoe is very popular on local waterways. Jupiter and Tequesta are located on the Loxahatchee River by Jupiter Inlet. The Loxahatchee River is one of only two nationally recognized Wild and Scenic Rivers in Florida. The second one is Wekiva River in Central Florida – north of Orlando.
There are both public and private places to launch kayaks along the Loxahatchee River. Waterfront communities like Tequesta Country Club have neighborhood launch locations for kayaking. Kayakers also enjoy the turquoise waters of the Intracoastal and Atlantic Ocean. The average water temperature is around 85° F (26° C).
Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Tequesta/Hobe Sound– Located on the north end of the Loxahatchee River and accessible from the water or by car from US1 in Tequesta. Follow the mangrove up the river to see wildlife such as alligators, deer, bobcat, coyotes, wild boar, manatees, turtles, tortoises, herons, egrets, ospreys, bald eagles and fish. Trapper Nelson’s cabin is along this fork of the river with picnic tables and restrooms.
Riverbend Park, Jupiter – Located west of I-95 & Florida Turnpike at Indiantown Road. Canoe and kayak outfitters onsite. Famous for the thrilling ride over the Masten Dam. Onsite outfitters rent canoes and kayaks but are closed Tuesday & Wednesdays. The most popular trip from River Bend is a 2.5-3.5 miles trip (3-4 hours) called the Cypress Canopy. No swimming allowed. If you prefer you can rent biked and go biking along the Riverbend Park trails.
Intracoastal (ICW), Jupiter/Tequesta – Jupiter Lighthouse Park, US1 in Tequesta and Coral Cove Park on Jupiter Island are public launch sites to access Jupiter Inlet and Intracoastal sandbars.

Interview with Susanna Grubb from Ultimate Florida Real Estate
Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in Fort Lauderdale & Palm Beach (SACC-SFL) had a talk with new Trust Member Susanna Grubb to chat about her new company Ultimate Florida Real Estate and what to think about when selling or buying.
You recently started ”Ultimate Florida Real Estate”, tell me about it! Yes, I did! I’m very excited about what 2019 has to offer. I was a Florida real estate agent for various companies in Jupiter and Palm Beach for 12 years. I tried mom-and-pop brokerages and global realty brands. As an agent, you pay a portion of your commission to a broker. As I was generating 100% of my leads, I saw less and less value in what the brokers had to offer me. It was time to venture out on my own. In 2018 I was focused on creating and establishing my brand and in 2019 I’ll start hiring.
What are your biggest strengths you think?
I already have an existing buyer and seller client base, referral network and presence across social media and about 50% of my clients are Swedish. Many companies market themselves as both “local” and “global”, but I truly represent that. I have lived, worked and raised a family in Palm Beach County since 2003 so I have a lot of local knowledge for people relocating here. My biggest strengths are my higher education, vast travel experiences and respect for people from all socioeconomic backgrounds. My graduate thesis was about “schema theory”. I have a passion for SEO and that will take me to the next level.
I also know you have a masters degree in Technical Communication, how did you get in to the real estate business?
Yes, I do. When I graduated I was 7 months pregnant and had an 18 month old toddler. I also moved a week later from high-tech Seattle to old-world Normandy. I consulted in webdesign for a while. When we moved to Florida, I got attracted to real estate because of the flexible work hours. I managed my husband’s triplex in Newport RI 1992-1999 so I had handled many contracts before but as a landlord.
How is the real estate market in South Florida right now? Is it a good time for selling?
We have a great market right now – for both buyers and sellers. As more people can work remotely, we have much younger buyers moving to Florida than in the past. The market is more year-around and less seasonal. Homes in low crime areas with good schools, golf courses and medical facilities as well as beach condos and waterfront homes are hot. Look at comps sold in the past 90 days. What the seller paid is irrelevant. Realistic pricing is key!
For everyone that will sell or buy real estate, do you have some good advice?
When selling a home:
– Maximize your square footage under air. Get quotes for possible improvements and ask an experienced agent how this would effect the selling price.
– Unclutter the entire home or condo. Neutralize it so it appeals to as many potential buyers as possible.
– Ask your listing agent to hire the best photographer they know and get drone shots immediately (not as an add-on).
When buying a home:
– Request the price per square foot for the most similar active, sold and pending comps. This will show you the true value.
– Ask about pending or upcoming assessments for the condo or community. Get all financials during due diligence period.
– Find out the pet, vehicle and rental restrictions. Towns are following up on Airbnb rentals and few of them meet the HOA rules.

Baseball Jupiter Florida
BASEBALL – Roger Dean Stadium off Donald Ross Rd in the Abacoa development of Jupiter Florida – hosts two major league baseball teams – the St Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins for spring training. The Palm Beach Post calls it a “spring baseball utopia.”
The Jupiter baseball stadium can hold nearly 7,000 spectators. Roger Dean Stadium also hosts 4 minor league baseball teams: Jupiter Hammerheads, Palm Beach Cardinals, Gulf Coast Marlins and Gulf Coast Cardinals. In 2012, it hosted 2013 World Baseball Classic qualifying games.
Town of Jupiter and Village of Tequesta also offer baseball junior recreational, travel teams and leagues as part of the Jupiter Tequesta Athletic Association (JTAA) program.

ATHLETIC LEAGUES – Visit Jupiter Tequesta Athletic Association (JTAA) for junior sports league seasons. Travel and rec level sports at various age levels.
Jupiter Tequesta Athletic Association – Youth sports offered include baseball, basketball, cheer leading, flag football, lacrosse, roller hockey, rugby, soccer, softball, tackle football, travel basketball, travel soccer, travel volleyball & volleyball. Most sports are seasonal so check the website for details including registration deadlines which are usually several months in advance. KITE SURFING – This has become so popular that a section of our beach is referred to as Kite Beach. The coastal shoreline intertwined as Juno Beach and Jupiter Beach in Florida has been a hangout for surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers for over 50 years. This geographical location is superior for beginning and advanced kite boarding. The windiest months are September – May. Several outfitters in Jupiter and Juno Beach along US1 offer kitesurfing lessons and equipment rentals or purchase. The outfitters keep on popping up. Jupiter hosts Jupiter Kite Invasion – an annual freestyle and surf style kitesurfing competition. There is also Girls Surfing events organized by local surf shops. With the Gulf Stream just off shore the ocean maintains a water temperature of around 78° F (26 °C) year-around. Free parking, picnic areas, restrooms, fishing piers and restaurants available within walking distance.

Palm Beach är näst största kommunen i Florida – del av “South Florida” och “Gold Coast” liksom Broward och Dade kommun. Endast Monroe är större med 87% i Everglades… Namnet “guldkusten” tillkom pga de många rika och flotta besökare som präglar Palm Beach under vintern. Vädret är rätt likt inom regionen men Palm Beach är inte lika fuktigt speciellt under sommaren. Det är lite kriminalitet i norra Palm Beach kommun – North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Juno Beach, Jupiter, Jupiter Inlet Colony och Tequesta. De närmsta flygplatserna ligger i West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami och Orlando. Norr om Guldkusten ligger “Treasure Coast” – “skattkusten” med Stuart som huvudstad. I’ve lived in Jupiter for 16 years and in Fort Lauderdale for 2 years. I know many but not all communities between Palm Beach and Jupiter Island. I have sold over 30 homes and condos in Broward, Palm Beach, Martin and Saint Lucie counties. When you are looking for a new place to move or vacation ask yourself –
“What would I like 3 minutes and 15 minutes away?”
We decided to live in the quiet Village of Tequesta with 3 minute drive to Jupiter and Jupiter Island beaches and 15 minutes to Palm Beach Gardens restaurants and shops. I think that’s probably a good starting point in your search. Other people may opt for 3 minutes to a school or a golf course and 15 minutes to the beach. It’s all up to your lifestyle, budget and priorities. Here’s my overview of nearby communities –
Palm Beach Gardens (City) – Many great restaurants, shops, public and private golf courses, 15 min from PBI airport and Singer Island, Juno Beach and Jupiter beaches. Home to the Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA) and many top level golf courses and golf clubs such as Frenchmans Creek Beach & Country Club, Frenchmans Reserve, PGA National, Ballenisles Country Club, Country Club at Mirasol, Old Palm Golf Club and Old Marsh Golf Club.
Juno Beach (Town) – Quaint beach community with restaurants, shops, beachfront condos and walk-to-beach communities. Known for Juno Beach Pier – a public 990′ fishing pier and Loggerhead Marinelife Center which helps injured turtles recover before returning to sea. Home to prestigious Seminole Landing and Seminole Golf Club (#1 in Florida).
Jupiter (Town) – Located around Jupiter Inlet. Offers few direct beachfront condos, except Ocean Trail, as there are no buildings directly on the beach. Jupiter offers many walk-to-beach communities. Popular venues include Abacoa public golf course, Roger Dean baseball stadium, Maltz Theatre, Jupiter Yacht Club, Jupiter Ocean & Racquet (JORC) and Jupiter Bay tennis clubs. Jupiter is very popular for sports fishing and diving. Several beachside parks south of Jupiter Inlet. New outdoor walking and cycling project “The Riverwalk” underb way with shops, restaurants and mini ferry stops. Harbourside Place – new Intracoastal waterfront restaurant and shopping complex opened in December 2014. Now home of “The Woods Jupiter” – Tiger Woods’ restaurant. About to happen is the new Jupiter Village – a restaurant and shopping district connected to Jupiter Riverwalk. Did you know Jupiter was voted 9 of top 10 Seaside Villages in Coastal Living magazine in 2012? Jupiter and Tequesta are also home to many golf course communities.
Tequesta (Village) – North of Jupiter Inlet. Includes south end of Jupiter Island. The Village hosts a green market in season. Probably 15 restaurants and some small shops. 5-10 min drive to I-95 and Jupiter. 15 min to Palm Beach Gardens shops and restaurants. Locals enjoy fishing, golfing, boating, tennis, paddle boarding and kayaking. No thru traffic as Jonathan Dickinson State Park separates Tequesta from Hobe Sound. Small sections of Tequesta and Jupiter are in Martin County.
